Q 7

Display even more 3D autogen

It is possible to apply an FSX.cfg file tweak that will allow even more  ES3D autogen objects to be displayed leading to an incredibly dense 3d  environment.

To do so please try the below suggestion.

Where is the FSX.cfg file?

On Win XP™ you'll find it here: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX. In Windows Vista & 7, you will want to make sure  hidden files are shown and then look here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. Sometimes you will not be able to save any changes to the .cfg file in  Win 7. Do this: Press the windows key, type in notepad, right click  notepad, run as administrator, open the .cfg file in notepad, make  changes, save.

Note: Before doing any modifications to the FSX.cfg, make sure to create a back up copy of it.

[TERRAIN] Recommended tweak for High end systems

It is possible to apply an FSX.cfg file tweak that will allow even more  ES3D autogen objects to be displayed leading to an incredibly dense 3d  environment.

In the [TERRAIN] section, add these:

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=6000

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000

The theoretical maximum FSX can display is 6000 for trees & 4500 for buildings.
The same tweak can be used to improve performance on lower end systems by reducing the numbers.
Feel free to experiment with the numbers to achieve your own sweet spot.

Please Note: Whilst adequate backups will help safeguard you, manual FSXcfg tweaks are applied at your own risk!
